Pictures That Lie: Oprah Winfrey
I chose picture 11 of Oprah Winfrey. I chose this picture because Oprah is famous all over the world and most people know about her. Also, there is a dramatic difference on how Oprah looks like in the real world and how she is displayed in that picture. The picture originated from the cover of TV Guide in August 1989. The picture was manipulated by splicing the head of Oprah onto the body of the body of an actress Ann-Magret taken from a 1979 publicity shot. The picture was manipulated to give the talk show host a better image since at that time she was having some weight problems. The manipulation wasn't harmful because it gave Oprah a better image but the manipulation was done without the permission of Winfrey.

Yes, so true they hosts are always morphing their pictures make them appear better.
I looked at this picture too! I could not believe that this was something that she would agree to. I knew of photo editing when it came down to models and other actress, but I never thought the Oprah would do this. It is just funny and a little disturbing at the same time.
This picture was rather interesting! I agree with you that they manipulated her picture at a time when she was having weight issues.Oprah is famous all over the world so that picture has probably traveled very far.
Hey Nellin! I agree with your blog. Because Oprah is so popular, it seems unwise to edit her image, especially without her permission. I also agree that thits image was not necessarily harmful, but it probally offended many people.
You're right, it's not terribly harmful because it was meant to make Oprah look better, but I think that the fact that they manipulated the picture without her permission makes it more harmful.
Yup! I agree with you Nellin, I wrote about the picture of Katie Couric who is a famous news reporter and they altered her image as well. I belive the pictures are not harmful but are misleading in the way these people appear in real life. We all know Oprah and Mrs. Couric have lovely curves.Good post similar to mine :)
